The Pioneer Artisan

Ranjanben Bhatt

Ranjanben has empowered more than 8000 women to stand independently by training them in various fields like stitching, embroidery & craft

Ranjanben Bhatt born 23th September 1942, may have crossed her third quarter in the golden age, but in person, you would have never met a person youthful and zestful like her. She has always carried an eagerness to learn the art and a knack for curiosity since her childhood. At 6 years of age, she made her first stick doll with absolutely no idea of what a doll or “dhingli” is. It was solely a product of her imagination and creativity that bought her where she stands today.

In every stage of life, Ranjanben always took out the time to create more doll figurines inspired by the people she met, the sculptures she saw, and the cultures she read about. Eventually, this growing love and interest for doll art lead her to pursue her diploma in hand stitching and hand embroidery course, and that was followed by years of research based on various cultures, art forms, folklore, and traditional dances India had. She had an urge to take this multitude of cultures to the world, but by maintaining the roots of it.

She has given training in the field of Tailoring, Cutting of Women & Children garments, hand embroidery and various art forms to more than 8000 women at various places in Saurashtra and later in Gandhinagar (Gujarat, India) in her journey. She strongly believes that love for your art always brings perfection in the work, and with this belief, she has been working relentlessly for the last 60 years with a smile on her face and enthusiasm in her heart.
